Looking back to 1960, Bella references the incipient war in Vietnam and accompanying protests, a preceding period of nominal tranquility, collaged words including President Kennedy’s forward-looking comments, snippets from frivolous pop songs, and the tense downing of a US U-2 spy plane over Russia.
