Re[SID]uals focuses on the brief encounter between sound and interface; it foregrounds the mark of contact rather than a polished surface. Listening shifts from long shot to close-up; seams behind the melody, muted hums, and delayed shards of echo tilt the axis of the narrative. The cut in the title bends the direction of hearing like a small fissure opened inside the word; the music lingers in that gap and, instead of pitting “natural” against “digital,” moves along the line where they meet. The interface ceases to be a passive carrier and leaves its handwriting on the timbre; meaning gathers in the curves of that script.

The piece sets up no nostalgia showcase. The shadow of early computer sound appears at times, yet not as quotation—more like a slight ache in memory. Micro-fissures born of recording and processing are not hidden; time folds them into pleats, and repetition behaves less like a mold than an inwardly woven fabric. Thus rhythm rises not from sparkle but from the patina of the surface; the listener reads not a polished marble, but a timeworn slab. Move closer and lines come into focus; step back and shadows deepen. Re[SID]uals offers no verdict; it follows a trace. What remains at the end is a sign that resists closure: a fine dust of sound that lifts after contact, drifts slowly, and stirs again the moment you reach for it.
