This piece is somewhere between a performance system and an installation. No source footage is used – the output is generated live by the interaction of two video feedback loops. The outputs from two webcams are processed, composited, and displayed, and the results re-enter the system. This gives a large range of complex and unpredictable video outputs, with the results being sensitive both to small parameter changes and to webcam movement. The two (silent) videos provided are unprocessed excerpts.
The ‘snail’ in the title refers to the physical configuration in which the ‘eyes’ are mounted on flexible antennae.
